Premier4509 Lamborghini Gallardo

premier4509-lamborghini-gallardo-2008-1.jpg

Premier4509™ has added the Lamborghini Gallardo to their lineup of aero kits for exotic vehicles. The latest release from the company features aerodynamic enhancing redesigns for the front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and rear spoiler. Optional stainless steel exhaust tips will also be offered with the package.

The pieces will be hand made in Japan and will be built using a combination of Carbon Fiber and FRP. “We`ve been in this business for twenty years now and we`ve always been known for our quality. We`ve gone a step up for our Premier line up and these parts will be flawless. For this line up we have assembled our best teams of craftsmen in Japan to hand build these parts.” said Hironoa Yokomaku, president of Premier4509. “For example, the rear diffuser on our Gallardo kit is larger than the raw sheets of supplied carbon fiber. To ensure there are no seam lines from the adjoining sheets, we have a technician whose sole responsibility is to line up the individual rows of carbon fiber with a needle.”

The design of the kit will aid the aerodynamic efficiency and will direct the airflow to vent crucial components on the vehicle. “The design is reminiscent of where Lamborghini is headed in design. I wanted to capture that essence while offering a dramatic option to Gallardo owners,” said Yokomaku.

Chevy Malibu LTZ gains four-cylinder-engine option

bilde.jpg

General Motors is adding a four-cylinder engine as an option to its top Chevy Malibu model and is touting the combination’s fuel economy. The Malibu LTZ now can be equipped with a 2.4-liter Ecotec rated at 169 hp, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
GM says this powertrain combination gets 22 mpg in city driving and 32 on the highway–which nearly equals the 24 mpg city/32 mpg highway rating of the Malibu hybrid.

Until now the Malibu LTZ was available with only a 3.6-liter V6, rated at 252 hp, mated to the six-speed automatic. GM says it’s adding the four-cylinder option to allow consumers to buy a loaded Malibu with a smaller engine.

The four-cylinder also gets unique 17-inch Chrometec wheels and a single chrome exhaust outlet.

The Malibu LTZ with the four-cylinder engine carries a base price of $26,245, including shipping charges.

Audi Q5 is official

car_photo_256605_7.jpgThis is what happens when you put an Audi Q7 on a hot wash! The German brand is upping the ante in the compact SUV sector with its all-new Q5. And these first official pictures will have Land Rover and BMW executives in a sweat.

The newcomer is aimed squarely at the Freelander 2 and X3, combining smart styling with Audi’s famous quattro four-wheel-drive system.

Measuring 4.63 metres, the Q5 is longer than its closest rivals, but bosses claim it will be the sportiest compact SUV around when it hits UK showrooms in September. From the outside there’s no mistaking its distinctive Audi grille, while its optional LED daytime running lights borrow heavily from the new A4.

The rear tailgate is aluminium to reduce weight – just like the bon-
net. LED light clusters provide a striking look at the back. A pair of alloy roof rails boosts practicality, while an extra-large panoramic sunroof features on the options list.

Buyers will get the choice of three exterior packages. Standard Q5s feature black body trim, but customers will also be able to select a full body-colour option or even pick a contrasting shade. Alternatively, sporty S Line versions provide a more aggressive look, and an optional off-road package includes beefy underbody protection and bigger alloy wheels.

Audi is famed for its quality interiors and the Q5 won’t disappoint, with wood, aluminium, chrome, leather and Alcantara all featuring inside.

A gearshift indicator in the instrument panel helps you select the most economical ratio, and the brand’s clever MMI interface controls major functions via an integrated screen on the centre console. There’s also a space-saving electronic parking brake.

Beijing Motor Show 2008 - Highlights

Mercedes-Benz GLK
Mercedes-Benz is keen to get a hold of the growing small SUV market with its new GLK, shown in concept form as the Vision GLK at Geneva earlier this year and revealed as a production model at Auto China 2008. Competing against the BMW X3, Land Rover Freelander and the new Audi Q5 (which also made its debut in Beijing) the production GLK is virtually identical to the concept car. Its design harps back to the now defunct G-Wagon, a model the Stuttgart-based company calls the ‘founding father of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family’.

116721_68_preview.jpg

The GLK’s chiseled, wedgy design combines with straight lines, which are clearly vastly different to what is currently seen on other vehicles within the Mercedes range. But the GLK is considerably smaller than its proportions indicate. Standing 1689mm high, it is 126mm shorter than an M-Class and 151mm shorter than the GL-Class. When viewed in profile there is the impression of a clamshell hood - a nod to its predecessor - and the upright windshield, indent in the side body panels and flat wheelarches all clearly pay homage to the original G-Wagon.

The angular exterior theme is continued into the GLK’s interior. The IP visually extends to the door panels to give the impression of a spacious cabin. It will be available with various wood or aluminum highlights which continue onto the door panels around the door handle and the typical Mercedes seat adjustment controls. The center console includes an armrest and storage compartment as well as the (optional) ‘Comand’ infotainment controller with a display screen recessed in the center of the IP.

GunagZhou Honda Li Nian concept

In one of the most underappreciated concept car debuts at the Auto China 2008, Guangbin - a subsidiary brand GunagZhou Auto and Honda plan for launch in 2010 - revealed the Li Nian SUV concept.

116727_68_preview.jpg

Painted lilac purple to showcase its design, this compact SUV/CUV was located at the obscure edge of the Honda booth in Hall E2, with some journalists actually realizing its presence only after their visit to the nearby restroom. Although it can’t possibly be, it’s almost looked as if neither GuangZhou Motor (located at Hall E1) nor Honda (Hall E2) was too thrilled with the car’s presence, with Honda’s CRZ taking up the concept car center stage and the Fit and FCX being pushed into the spotlight. There was no fanfare, no center stage, and not even an unveiling for the car. But by early afternoon word of mouth had spread, attracting a number of designers who came over to appreciate its styling.
