2018 Mazda3 LA Show design winner completed
So after finally hoping on the Facebook-bandwagon, we decided to check up on how Mallory McMorrow’s Mazda3 concept was coming along.
After shaping and molding the clay on the LA show floor for over 10 days, the 2018 Mazda3 was finally displayed. Overall, it’s cues tie in nicely with the “flow” theme crafted by Franz von Holzhausen and his team who helped McMorrow hone her design.
We think it’s a step in the right direction, particularly from an undergrad, and we’re hopeful that the 21-year old industrial design student hits the ground running once she has her degree in hand.

Why do they make cars like this for 2018, if they can make them now, why can’t we have it now, that is one awesome car, I would buy one.

The wheels look like they were printed out and stuck on to the sides!
that looks fugly tbh.. why do we need more weird shaped cars when we know they will fail, just like the bubble car and suchlike.. i think we need more cars styled like the bigger japanese performance cars, they have the looks
I love this style, and year after year I see very cool concepts. However, most cars you can buy are typical boxes, without any of this cool factor. Did i read correctly this car is for 2018? Does anyone have pictures of cars from 10 years ago to see if they match what is actually sold?

They probably were thats usually what they do for concept wheels. Plastic rotors and probably wheels too.

If anyone here has ever worked in a factory, this car will not work as is… Let’s discuss:
1. The front & rear overhang are too short to even meet Chinese crash standards
2. Unless this car is running Indy, you don’t need brake rotors this large
3. The sheetmetal is nice, but presses would never make this shape. Too many changes and curves, sorry but presses and sheetmetal DON’T do this.
4. Think you can roll down that driver’s window all the way? Think again
5. You like a harsh ride, this is your car. With such large wheels and low profile stance, you have no suspension rebound. Any bump will be a huge, colon shaking affair
6. This is a Mazda 3… where’s the rear seat room?

That’s an ignorant opinion, considering it”s based on todays available technology. This is a 2018 CONCEPT. As in this is the concept of what the car MAY look like.You have to figure, by the time this would be released there is about 10 years of development time, wherein all the problems in ergonomic design, sheet metal and other design issues can be figured out. That’S WHAT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MEANS. DEVELOPING PRODUCTS. FOR THE FUTURE. Jackass.

Think about how much technology has changed in 10 years let’s say from 1998 to 2008, not much at all! So don’t get your hopes up about these drastic changes becoming a reality. People just like to dream, but maybe in 30-50 years, MAYBE.
since when do they ever release a CONCEPT CAR? the only people that can buy them are the fuckin insainly rich people that have billions of dollars. that is one reason why they call it a CONCEPT CAR, normal people that live and actually work for there money will never be able to afford one.
