Chicago Show: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Live Images

If there’s one car that totally stole our heart with its looks at the Chicago Show that would have to be the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (especially the one in black color).

Despite the fact that theD Challenger (see press photos and details here) is a virtually a modern remake of the homonymous 70’s model, Dodge’s design team has done a really wonderful job with the car’s exterior styling.

Too bad that some decision-makers inside Chrysler LLC chose to follow the easy (some call it cheap…) way with the interior which is near-identical to the one found in the Charger.

Functional it may be, but when you design such a dynamic and aggressive looking body, you expect something much more special and unique inside.

You left out the only pic that matters….under the hood.

  2. devicepedia.com on February 8th, 2008

I’d have to agree that the black one looks terrible sporty.

  3. Tyler Durden on February 8th, 2008

Whats with all the hard plastic in the interior!!!!! When will Dodge ever learn? After 15k miles the interior of every Dodge/Chrysler squeeks like a mouse.

  4. Jim on February 8th, 2008

looks way too boxy and seems oddly proportioned compared to the camaro and mustang, definately a result of cramming it onto the same platform as the charger/300

Please someone tell me this comes in manual…

Give me a break- after 10,000k this car will be just another american piece of shit. Wake up! start designing cars that actually make a difference, instead of just LOOKING different. So typically America, wow 500 horsepower! won’t mean shit because you’re sitting in traffic anyway.

  7. Spidey on February 8th, 2008

Why in the world do American auto makers continue to pump out cars that get 20 mpg when we have $3.00 a gallon gas? I want a car that gets high mileage, not some freaking muscle car that drinks a tank of gas on my commute.

No wonder American auto makers are slowly losing the race.

  8. saud on February 8th, 2008

because we can afford to you nerd. these cars are going to sell $20K over MSRP because people can afford them as toys. have fun driving to your dead end jobs in your compact commuter..

  9. Free Wallpaper on February 8th, 2008

Damn I wish I was at that show, not to far from it! Good looking car though, toys are nice to have :)

    Internet tough guy is tough.

He does have a point though. They make Hyundai’s for people who can’t afford to drive one of these.

  12. Alias1431 on February 8th, 2008

I’m sorry… but I think this car looks like shit.

  13. lawlies on February 8th, 2008

I’m a Mopar guy (although NISMO comes first) and I’ll have to say, good work Chrysler! You just brought a 70s car back in 1995 styling.

    What a hunk of trash.

  14. musclemania on February 8th, 2008

    don’t be sorry just GTFO

  15. J00 on February 8th, 2008

I don’t get what all of you are whining about.

The thing is metal sex. Looks great, fantastic hp, and overall great ride. Why the hell are we comparing this to Hyundai’s with good gas mileage?

If I wanted good gas mileage and a shitty looking care, hell even a good looking one, I would. But I wanna go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds or less.

  17. madpuppy on February 8th, 2008

It is a pretty darn nice looking car, shame it is a Chrysler. they even surpass Ford in low quality, unreliable garbage, when US auto makers get their act together and start producing vehicles on the Level of Toyota’s quality then we’ll be talkin’
right now, if I want to spend 20k on an animal of a car give me a ‘98 Supra twin turbo. and if I want
a classic American car I will restore a REAL classic like a ‘70 challenger or ‘cuda.

  18. reality on February 8th, 2008

Don’t claim that people who want good gas mileage should drive hyundai’s and then expect me to feel sorry for detroit. The gov’t gives detroit tax subsidies and support for not being able to compete. This is America, lead or get out of the way! Flashy paint jobs and ‘retro’ styling are for ignorants! Let’s get our heads out of our asses and start making cars that can do 0-60 in five seconds and not use and once of gas…. it is possible. Detroit will collapse due to their short sightedness.

“Live” images? what the hell does that mean?

  20. nick on February 9th, 2008

This is for all the low quality remarks.

Maybe you have missed the marketing campaign for the lifetime powertrain warranty! For another 1200 you have bumper to bumper lifetime warranty. No one can say anything about the quality of a Chrysler car when the manufacturer has offered to fix any defects forever.

  22. not quite lifetime on February 9th, 2008

FYI: The lifetime powertrain warranty is not available on any SRT models. So if you want that lifetime you will be forced to drive a lower/slower trim level. Enjoy that SLOW clunky car for the rest of your life. lol

    This car is ugly.

    lol at american designed interiors

  25. VW on February 10th, 2008

I dont like the interior on american cars.

  26. Dodge Challenger FanClub on February 13th, 2008

I worry about the lack of a lifetime powertrain warranty on a car like this. I’m sure Dodge will only make these for a few years, especially with the new fuel standards going into place, so it’s no skin off their back if these things die after 5 years or so. Still, it’s a true modern muscle car with more bang for the buck than just about any car around.

  27. Larry on February 13th, 2008

This is a sweet ride! Better than any of the foriegn shit that rolls around! Mopar is back!!

  28. Bruce on February 13th, 2008

From most of these comments, I can’t believe people dont understand muscle cars anymore! Comparing them to ricers and hybrids is not even relevant! Its like trying to compare an apple to an orange. Muscle cars are a straight line sexy, badass powerhouse.

  29. Shane on April 23rd, 2008

too bad the inside of it looks like a dodge caliber. I’ll take the Camaro, thanks.

Great Chicago ! . I love the city, great people to meet on Chicago. Have you try also to see the Chicago Real Estate website ? It has a great video and article about Chicago. Stumbled your blog up ! Ernest.

Funny, I read all of these answers & comments. I can’t understand why any real American would not want to buy any kind of car/truck that is not American, & yes I know that the car is made in Canada. I also know that the SRT’s don’t have the life time warranty, because it’s a race car for the street. If any of you think that the 5.7L Hemi is not a race car, with 375HP in 2009, you must be high, and its has the lifetime warranty. What other car company can say that? It’s really a bad thing to hear Americans talk crap about American cars, maybe that is why Americans are failing. People like most of you don’t know crap about anything. Go buy your Toyota, VW or other non American Vehicles, but don’t BITCH when Japan is running the USA & the middle East is your new boss at work, that is if they let you live. So what, it gets poor gas mileages. Who said you have to buy it? This car was built for one type of person, someone that does not have a lot of money, but love’s the fun of a sport car. Most of you people need to get a life, I can’t believe that you go on-line to put down a car, which you know that you can’t have anyways. 2008 are numbered, sold. So just get off of it & face it, you cant afford it. As far as Ford, their broke and soon to be a GM. This is just one more thing that you guys can BITCH about. Ford dropped their SVT line to try to get on their feet, did not work. Most Americans love fast cars, and yes the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is one hot looking and fast car. Don’t be pissed, just because you don’t have one. So after all is said and done, make your silly little remarks. Remember, you still driving a Toyota or something that’s was made by people that want you dead…..
