Ford Mustang WiP Special Edition

Ford Mustang WiP

I’m not sure if they were inspired for choosing the title “Warriors in Pink” (WiP) for the latest Mustang special edition, but believe me it’s for a good cause.

Only 2,500 units will be produced and will all feature a pink ribbon and pony fender badge, pink Mustang rocker tape striping, a unique grille, charcoal leather seats with pink stitching, aluminum-spoke steering wheel with pink stitching and charcoal floormats with pink ribbon and contrast stitching. 1967 Ford Mustang … One-Half-Trick Pony on eBay

Seems like the owner of this 1967 Stang watched the Teutul family at American Chopper one time too many and the result is, somewhat heartbreaking for any classic car lovers like ourselves.

The custom built Mustang tricycle is powered by a 302 V8 Ford engine that has approx 3,800 miles on it and apart from the driver, it can seat another two passengers at the back. Read more »

Mustang-based Aston Vanquishes other replicas

In our day-to-day, we come across a fair number of replicars. Some are especially convincing, while others are just plain bonkers. Far more so than the Miata-based AMX07 we brought you back in 2006, this Aston Martin V12 Vanquish replica could have had us fooled.

Made by Ontario, Canada-based Exclusive Motor Cars, this Aston replica is based on a previous-gen Ford Mustang.

Ten companies are then involved in the transformation — stretching the wheelbase, widening the track and lowering the ride height with suspension mods; crafting, painting and fitting the 34 composite body panels; custom upholstering the interior and fitting interior trim pieces; and mounting all the extra details from the headlights to the badges. Ford reportedly developing new rear-drive cars, smart move ?

Ford has confirmed that it is working on a new rear-drive vehicle architecture for the U.S., reports Automotive News, citing comments made by Ford executives at a recent dinner.

Although Ford showed two rear-drive concepts last year at the Detroit Auto Show — the Ford Interceptor and Lincoln MKR — both were based on the existing rear-drive Mustang platform, and the company has been largely silent on its plans since.

None of the executives present, including product head Derrick Kuzak and CEO Alan Mullaly, went into detail about the company’s plans, but they did say they would build the vehicles on the new global rear-drive platform currently being developed by its Australian operations. Read more »

SPOILER ALERT! More pics of Knight Rider’s GT500KR KITT

We’ve found yet more high-res pics of the Shelby GT500KR that will play KITT in the TV revival of Knight Rider. This new batch finally gives us enough angles of both the KITT Hero and KITT Attack cars, including KITT’s interior, to make a judgment on how successful the transformation is.

One thing we always liked about the original KITT was how simple it was: just a jet black exterior with black wheels.

The GT500KR KITT Hero car conforms to this ethos, with an exterior that doesn’t distinguish itself very much from a standards GT500KR save for the black paint accented by matte black racing stripes and the swooping red light bars in the hood nostrels. But why the chrome wheels ? Read more »

First Drive: 2008 Saleen S302E and H302SC Mustangs

There might be dozens (even hundreds?) of Mustang variations out there, but when Saleen sends you an invite to drive its new 620-horsepower S302E Extreme Mustang, you take it without thinking twice. You see, they have been working their magic on Ford’s pony car for 25 years now, so if anyone knows how to do it right, it’s Saleen.

Company founder Steve Saleen might no longer be at the helm, but that doesn’t mean the company’s passion is gone for producing high performance automobiles. In fact, there seems to be a renewed enthusiasm, or what Saleen’s General Manager Marques McCammon calls a “reawakening” of the company.

Part of this is due to the recent acquisition of ASC (American Specialty Cars), and new key personnel in place including Paul Wilbur as the new President and CEO, as well as Chris Theodore, the father of the Ford GT program, as the new Chief Technology Officer. Read more »

Lightning Car Company to build 700HP all-electric GT

The first time we laid eyes on Ford’s new F-450, we knew that we wanted to run one through the ringer. Intended to satisfy those customers who find traditional “one ton” dually trucks to be a bit too limiting, this massive vehicle pegged our more-is-better meter. The F-450 is, so big as to make the title of this post a complete misnomer, as it takes something more like a barn to house this much truck. Read more »
