Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG Tuned by Vath

For those of you looking to spice up their Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG, German tuning firm Vath has released a new tuning package that consists of mechanical and styling upgrades.

Vath’s engine kit, that optimizes among other things, the 6.0-liter V12’s turbocharger, helps raise output from 612 to 718 HP.

With the removal of the electronic speed limiter, the Vath CL 65 AMG can reach a top speed of 340 km/h or 211 MPH. Additional mechanical upgrades include the high performance braking system and lowered suspension. Read more »

The Mercedes-Benz CLCs That Weren’t Meant To Be

Now, wouldn’t it have been nice if the above rendering had actually managed to convince the decision-makers at Mercedes-Benz’ headquarters in Stuttgart that this is what the 2009 CLC should look like ?

We would have certainly preferred it from the final design proposition (check out the last two images after the jump) that economically wiggled its way into production. Read more »

The new Mercedes Benz CLC (SportCoupe) Announced

new Mercedes Benz CLC

The official announcement came in and a new Mercedes Benz CLC (SportCoupe) is ready to be released. It has the same C-class radiator grille we’re used with and the big Mercedes logo on it, new projection-beam headlamps, a new rear bumper and third brake LED light.

It’s obvious that the first thing you look at is the exterior and the new Mercedes Benz CLC has a lot to get your attention, but what about under the hood?

The specs include a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder engine that have from 122 hp up to 272 hp, a six-speed manual transmission for all models while the 7G-Tronic seven-speed transmission is optional for the V6 models. Read more »

Coming to America: Mercedes SLR McLaren 722 GT

Some will say for better, others will say for worse, but one way or another, the Mercedes SLR McLaren is the supercar that refuses to go quietly into the night.

It was previewed by the Vision SLR concept way back in 1999, and since entering limited production in 2003, the Anglo-Saxon supercar has performed disappointingly both on the road and in the market.

But rather than allowing it to slip away, Mercedes has repeatedly given it new transfusions with the Roadster, 722 and most recently the 722 GT derivatives.

The SLR, in all its incarnations, is about due for retirement, so where has it gone? To Florida, of course! Read more »

The Pope gets a new Mercedes G500 Popemobile

The Pope’s got himself a new ride, and boy is it, uh, white. Mercedes announced today that they have given his Holiness a highly-customized G500. Like previous Popemobiles, the G500 has a folding windscreen, and handrails and steps in the rear for entry.

The Vaticanmysitc white interior matches the Vaticanmystic white exterior which, we assume, matches the Pope’s Vaticanmystic white robes.

Mercedes says the topless G500 will be the Pope’s fair weather car and the S-Class in the Vatican garage can be summoned for less sunny driving. Read more »

Essen 2007: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster by Brabus

Of all the products in Mercedes’ stable that could benefit from a thorough tweaking, the McLaren SLR isn’t one of them. But Brabus has built its name on taking things to the illogical extreme, and its modification of the new SLR Roadster is no different.

Equipped with a new set of cams, exhaust and a system to cool the fuel, the blown V8 now produces an additional 23 HP that’s sent through the stock transmission and down to a clutch-type LSD. 0-to-60 times drop down to 3.6 seconds and the top speed has been increased to 209 mph.

A new carbon fiber front spoiler and rear diffuser, tuned by Brabus in the wind tunnel, reduces lift at speed, while the factory rolling stock has been ditched in favor of 9.5×20-inch wheels in front and 11.5×20-inch hoops in the rear. Read more »
